Hawkesbury Upton 26.8.06

What happened at this event?

Hawkesbury Upton's annual village show.  This isn't a bus rally, and in fact it is rare for any bus to attend at all (although RM1363 has been twice in the past, several years ago).

Originally a horticultural show that has now been an annual event in the village for over 100 years, the event still includes judging of plants and vegetables grown by local people.  However, there is also a wide range of other exhibits, which in the past have included displays of horseback archery, beekeeping, rare animals and birds of prey, and an assortment of classic cars and agricultural vehicles.

A variety of refreshments from locally brewed beer in the refreshments marquee to home-made cakes and a hog roast were available.

We took GHT127 at the specific request of the landlord of the Beaufort Arms Pub.  Not many vintage vehicles attended this year - there have been many more in the past: perhaps you'd like to bring yours next year.  If so, contact the webmaster for details.

The venue is the village hall and recreation ground, Hawkesbury Upton, South Gloucestershire, opposite the Beaufort Arms Pub.
